About Love

I got a chance to chat with a client today; she’s a really beautiful and kind lady, a 2 1/2 year cancer widow. We got to talking about Valentine’s Day and she mentioned that, this year for Valentine’s Day she received a beautiful bouquet of roses from a wonderful man. She was so touched and flattered […]

Hannah Jane Nancarrow is a San Diego State University alumni, with a B.A. in journalism and new media. After graduating in 2011, Hannah worked in local T.V. news before her dad was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Hannah managed and contributed to her dad’s incredibly popular blog (thenancarrowproject.com) and social media platforms before he passed away, after 11 months of bravely battling and blogging. The diagnosis was a catalyst for her own writing and for following each whim and dream. Today, Hannah writes her own blog and has been a keynote speaker at San Diego Women's Week, Relay for Life, and a top fundraiser for cancer-related causes throughout San Diego. Hannah also has a passion for health and fitness, since losing 75 pounds in 2011. She earned her Spinning® and group fitness instructor certifications, and teaches weekly cycle classes in Encinitas, California. Hannah also earned her real estate license and works in the family business, Nancarrow Realty Group, in North County San Diego.

Hannah, I love your posts. Your ability to share raw emotion is a true gift and since I have never met your Mom I will give your Dad credit. I have been single for 14 years and one thing I learned early on about widows and widowers is they are still very much in love and rightly so. In contrast to a divorce where people fall out of love, a widow wakes up in the morning and then their love is gone physically. I admire greatly those that acknowledge that love. It is easy for people to say they would want you to be with someone. I sense that is unfair and everyone’s time table is different. On an upbeat note, your Dad must be so proud of you. His legacy lives on through your postings and incredibly powerful yet vulnerable messages to all. As a father to a 25 year old daughter working in India with young girls to keep them out of sex trafficking I live the pride your Dad has for you. You are a blessing to all you touch.

Hi Hannah…..I live in Jamul and I remember your dad coming out here and doing his broadcast, usually from Simpsons………..love your posts……..I am a retired psychiatrist who did 20 years with the state and then found that retirement was not all I expected………so now I treat the homeless downtown at St. Vincent de Paul……….it is a nice way to spend my time…you are right……..the only real meaning we find in our lives is when we do for others.
