Loren, Great interview- so good to see you & Susie- thumbs up to Fox 5, my new favorite station- Saw you years ago doing the weather from La Mesa Blvd. and I yelled out of the window “Loren, you’re my favorite weatherman!” I meant that then, and you still are. I went to LCC with your son what seems like ages ago. If it’s any help, in my time away from San Diego, I was introduced to a man in Dallas that survived a malignant brain tumor named Matt Chandler. He is a smart and powerful speaker on faith (if that suits your fancy) and has a raw/honest perspective on what you’re going thru. I am shocked at the news of your diagnosis but know you are just the man to beat this. You are certainly in my prayers.
I too am a fan of cobalt blue! I think it started with my grandmother’s covered candy dish. And today I can’t live without it — it’s the best color in the world!

I was wondering why I haven’t seen you on the air. Now, I know. Many years ago you were working at Channel 8 and reported from Costa Rica {drinking Coca-Cola out of a sandwich bag. I thought one day I will go there, I did travel there in 1995 with my boyfriend , who has now been my Husband for almost 17 years.

I can think of no other News Station in San Diego that would allow enough time for such a beautiful outpouring of authentic support for one of their family members, Loren! I truly appreciate this as a San Diego native. Fox 5 has certainly shown where their heart is, and San Diego is richer for it. I only found out about your cancer a few weeks after my diagnosis. I have just finished up 4 months of chemotherapy. Next… surgery, radiation, reconstruction…. too overwhelming. I really must live each day one day at a time. Like you Loren,my family and my work family is precious and loyal, walking through this with me. I also have excellent insurance. Yet one thing above all is an amazing sense of peace that comes from my faith in God. This season of life for me is one I never expected, yet the “silver linings” appear daily. Your journey has intersected with mine, and I treasure your posts!

You’ve always been the sunny spirit of San Diego to me. Thank you for continuing to share your light as your personal journey takes such unexpected twists and turns. And thank you most of all for the straight talk – your strength and courage are a gift to us all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful family. Good to learn how the cobalt blue got started – I assumed it was part of your medical treatment – I’m glad it’s just something you chose to do because you love it. It’s a great color on you!
Walter and I were delighted to accidentally catch your interview with Kathleen Bade this morning as we were waiting to leave for the “zapping palace”. It was so heartwarming to see the feedback from your co-workers. The love and respect was overflowing. It was very brave of you and Susie to do the interview at this juncture, and it went beautifully. Walter passed along what we had seen to the great crew at radiation headquarters, and they were happy to have the update.
We took a break last night from medical overload, and experienced a joyful and amazing performance by the Alvin Ailey dance ensemble. We’re trying to do something special each week to keep our spirits revved up. So far so good. We send our best to you and your beautiful family.

Talk about mixing emotions! I watched the interview smiling, but with tears running down my face. It was so good to see you “live” – you look wonderful despite the hardship you’re going through. Susie,as always, was beautiful and poised. The love you have for each other and your family has always been evident to those of us who know you personally, so I’m glad the “rest of the world” got to witness that today. Hang in there….you have a lot of “cobalt-blue” supporters out here!
You continue to inspire. Each new posting touches many and focuses positive attention where it needs to be.

I was pleased to view the recent interview of Loren and his wife Suzi on Fox 5. From Eugene, Oregon, where I now live, it was refreshing to see them both. I enjoyed seeing and listening to Loren over the years that I lived in the San Diego area.. Keep thinking positive because there are a lot of supporters in your corner.

I saw you today on Fox 5, and I couldn’t help but I did cry a lot of tears. I’ve been watching you for the 27 years I’ve lived here in San Diego, and I truly am heartbroken with the news, I had not heard until today. I’ve seen you out and about in the community many times and I always say, “that’s the garden guy!” I’m going to start a garden. Today I challenged myself to finally get around to what I say I’m going to do. Your interview reminded me how important that is. Be well.

Your intrview this morning with Kathleen was so emotional and inspiring..i am still tearing up even 3 hours later. You are the man…you are also an inspiration to everyone who has or loves someone that has cancer. Both my parents passed away from cancer (dad in 2002 and mom in 2010) and I wish I wiuld have had the emotional strentgh you have shown during that time. Good luck to you, Susie and your family (all of San Diego??) may God bless you as you travel through this difficult time in your lives.
Cancer certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. Thank you for sharing your jouney. Many of us aren’t as open with our stories. Seeing you gives us courage.
