Reporting Live From Hell

This is Loren Nancarrow, reporting live from hell…

The hospital has a lot of devices — most of them meant to inflict pain. They say they’ll help you — but they hurt you. To say I’ve been poked and prodded is a vast understatement. 7 days now and they show no sign of letting up — but I’m not gonna let ‘em win.

Hold on…my blood pressure monitor just went off – they’re winning for the moment, but the bastards can’t have me yet.

This challenging visit has reminded me how real this is, but it has also hardened me for the fight ahead. I don’t have a lot of energy to carry on today except to say that if you’ve got cancer: DON’T FREAKING GIVE UP.

I know they’ll spring me from this place feeling better and ready to carry on. And by the way, September 21st is coming (the SDBTF 5k in Point Loma). If I can be there…so can you.

Thanks for everything,

Loren

Wishing you peace, Loren — please keep writing and hoping and telling us about it. I got some help with a situation like yours – I got so scared I went to church and the people there prayed over me. I’m still here and its 12 years later … the church was Foothills Christian Fellowship, near Highway 67 and Bradley. When you get out of hospital hell, go there. I don’t know why I got the miracle I did, but I got it. I hope you find yours because we love you here in San Diego …

Was in Scripps all day with pre-op testing. You’re absolutely right about the poking and prodding, but add the waiting times to get what you need. I think you said you go to Green – ill be in SMH la Jolla in a week – will try and hook up if we’re in the same place so we can laugh about the craziness. We miss you at work (Apple). Hang in there buddy, and as someone else said, thanks for taking time to share with us.

Hi Loren! I have a special dislike of hospitals and everything they entail so I totally understand how you feel! I had a 75 year old Aunt who just walked out of a hospital one time without even “checking out” because she felt like she was in a prison. She just called a cab to take her home! I will definitely be there for The Nancarrow Project run on the 21st! My best to you and your family and your four legged buddies – Janie

    • Unknown's avatar Anonymous says:

Janie – hey, I so remember your Aunt and the wonderful lady she was. If Loren can keep the same focus, he’ll do great! Glad we are both here rooting for him.

  33. Mike Marshall's avatar Mike Marshall says:

    Hi Loren,
you don’t know me but I went to school with Susie “Flemming” and enjoyed watching you on TV for many years. I saw Susie at the recent San Dieguito High school reunion of multi-class students on HWY 101/Encinitas and she gave me the bad news…………..my heart sunk…………..I lost my wife 4 years ago to M.S. so can relate to your struggles. I’ve been following you since Susie told me. I am also dealing with a friend who’s 25 yr old son is fighting severe cancer. As the famous bumper sticker says, “Shit happens”………..boy, ain’t that the truth……………..just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and your family and hoping that your body decides to just “kick ass” on this disease as I believe the mind is capable of healing most everything with the right amount of intense focus (some call it “prayer”, meditation, etc…………….does not matter what you call it………….focusing on what you want your body to do against this “invader” is paramount)………………….If my wife’s M.S. can come and go, then it shows that any disease can be controlled internally. I don’t know if this make sense, but I think you are enlightened enough to understand…………………..SO START MENTALLY FIGHTING THIS TEMPORARY AILMENT! You will win my friend! THINK, CONCENTRATE, FOCUS AND FIGHT EVERYDAY! It is just as important as diet and any medicines……………

I hope to get to meet you someday at a future birthday party (YOURS!)

    Mike Marshall

PS………..as you know, wives never let us off easy, so if I were to bet who will win=Susie VS cancer, no way she is going to let you or cancer off that easy! 🙂 Lots of love to the Nancarrows………………………….
